Alexander has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and sexual battery. Detectives are actively continuing their investigation to determine whether additional individuals may have encountered him under similar circumstances.

On March 30, 2026, detectives responded to a report of an armed kidnapping and sexual battery. During the investigation, a suspect was identified and probable cause was established.

On April 3, 2026, detectives interviewed Verwayne Alexander, who is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail. As a result of the investigation, Alexander was charged with one count of Kidnapping and one count of Sexual Battery (by coercion and threat).

On March 24, 2026, Verwayne Alexander was driving a dark gray 2019 Chevrolet Trax in the 1000 block of Ingraham Avenue when he approached a female pedestrian under the pretense of asking for directions while engaging in indecent behavior. He then traveled to Lake Ida Dog Park, where he parked his vehicle and remained inside, continuing the same behavior while observing individuals in the area.

An arrest warrant was obtained by the Delray Beach Police Department for four counts of Indecent Exposure. On April 2, 2026, Alexander was located, arrested, and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.

Richard P. Wille, former Sheriff of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, passed away this morning. He was 97.

Sheriff Wille served the citizens of Palm Beach County from 1977 to 1995, leading the agency for nearly two decades during a period of significant growth and change in the county. Prior to being elected sheriff, he served as Chief of Police in North Palm Beach and built a distinguished career in law enforcement dedicated to public service.

Known for his commitment to professionalism and the advancement of modern policing, Sheriff Wille left a lasting impact on the sheriff’s office and the community it serves.

He will be remembered for his many years of leadership, service, and dedication to protecting the residents of Palm Beach County.

During the investigation, probable cause was established for a residential search warrant at a residence in Lake Worth. On April 3, 2026, the search warrant was executed, and McGlashan was taken into custody. During execution of the warrant, numerous stolen items linked to multiple active investigations were recovered. The investigation is still active and ongoing.

The suspect was identified as Van Steaven Ceron. Further investigation revealed that Ceron filed a fraudulent insurance claim with State Farm, seeking compensation for damage to his vehicle and for alleged injuries stemming from the staged incident.

The victim sustained more than $12,000 in vehicle damage, along with injuries to her back and neck.

On March 31, 2026, Ceron was located and taken into custody on the charges listed below.
